Thursday, May 14, 2009 - Springtime is here!

Springtime is my personal favorite time of the year. I love the longer days! I love the trees blooming, the grass turning green again, the planting and watering that anticipates a coming harvest, and the significance of new life after the cold hard winter.

Springtime reminds me of the passage in the book of Acts where Peter preached about "times of refreshing . . . from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19 KJV). Just as our world has its seasons, Christianity (and specifically local churches) does as well. We are familiar with summer, when the days are hot and long and filled with joy and fun. Then fall sneaks in rather slowly and the nights become cooler and the days begin to be shorter. Fall is a beautiful time of the year in which we reap the harvest and enjoy a respite from the hot and humid temperatures of the summer. Of course, Fall is always followed by Winter. The days are short, the air bites with the cold, and flu and cold season hits with a vengeance. And yet, springtime always returns and, with it, life again springs from the earth. Consider this cycle in the church!

Consider this cycle in the church!

Springtime is always available for the church who will run to the presence of the Lord and seek him for "times of refreshing." Instead of abandoning the cold, we should fall on our knees and pray through for old-fashioned revival fires to begin to burn brightly again! We should spend time in His presence, repenting of our coldness and our worldliness. We should recognize that we have left our first love, and remember from where we have fallen, and repent, and return to the first works (Revelation 2:5). You know why don't you? Bbecause God always delights in sending "times of refreshing!"

And that is why we keep doing what we are doing. From our recent revival campaigns in Castle Rock and Fort Collins, CO; Mansfield, Ohio; Avon, IN; and North Columbus, OH; to the three coming in the next few weeks in Pennsylvania and Florida we are seeking God for times of refreshing from His presence. Will you keep praying for us and supporting us as we go? We need your prayers as we seek Him for Springtime in His church!

Sincerely,

The David Young Revival Team
