Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 2010 is moving right along!
What a year this has been so far! We headed south at the beginning of the year and have experienced the coldest winter we have seen in quite some time. I keep hearing people say that "this global warming is about to freeze us to death." Earlier this week, our good friend Pastor Jeff Winstead of Mount Union, Pennsylvania shared with us that their normal snowfall amounts in February are just over ten inches, but this year was just under fifty! Now that is quite a record! On the ministry side of things, January and February of 2010 has quite possibly been the greatest January and February on record for us as well.
We actually started the year in southern Indiana with a revival campaign at Charlestown Independent Church. Souls were saved in the very first service and from there every service was filled with the presence of God convicting of sin, challenging His people to live holy lives, and changing and conforming believers in a greater way to the image of Jesus Christ. It was a great week in spite of the bitter cold and the blizzard like storm that arrived the final evening. We had to wait an extra day before heading south to Alabama, but it was a beautiful day to rest and watch the snow as it steadily fell for almost 24 hours. What a glorious reminder that "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow!"
The rest of January had us in two revival campaigns in Alabama and one in New Mexico. Our campaign in Hartselle, Alabama at Bethel Baptist Church was another mightily blessed revival. The church had incredible crowds each evening and souls were saved in most of the services. We were simply awed at the power of God that was displayed in the services. From Hartselle, we traveled to Atmore, Alabama to conduct another revival campaign with our good friends at the Atmore Baptist Temple. It was a good week there too. In at least one of the services God allowed us the church to have one of the largest crowds the church had ever had! And on top of that, we were thrilled to see several saved that week too.
The month of January ended with me and David Corn traveling to Farmington, New Mexico for a revival campaign at Grace Baptist Church. God mightily met with us in this revival too and thirty-five souls professed faith in Christ throughout the week. A dad was saved on Sunday morning and, later in the week, his wife testified that their home had been radically changed in that week! God can still do that kind of work! A dad also testified that God had saved his little girl during the week in direct answer to their praying. Brother Corn felt lead of the Spirit to speak to a young man at a Wendy's and, although he was just passing through Farmington on his way to San Antonio, Texas, Brother Dave was able to lead that young man to the Lord as well. Wouldn't you agree that January was one great month!
February has been blessed as well. We had a great Family Matter's Conference in Montgomery and saw several souls saved in the Conference! Our team also had a very good revival at Faith Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia and another at Westgate Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. We are currently in the middle of an 8-day revival campaign at Faith Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama. This too has been an incredible meeting so far. The building has been full in every service; believers have evidenced a genuine reviving; and souls have been and are being saved! I wish all of you could join us . . . ! Remember you can via your prayers! So keep on praying!
Sincerely,
The David Young Revival Team
